On the Feast of St. Michael the Archangel, September 29th, the
Sisters received an exquisite gift from a friend and benefactor of Coulee
City, Washington — Mr. Dick Taylor — a cross-stitch rendering of the
stained-glass window at Mount St. Michael. The pattern for the
stitching was developed by Mr. Taylor on a software program from a 4" x
6" photo sent him from the Sisters. The project represents over 900 hours
of work, spanning a period of 9 months. Yet Mr. Taylor has this to say in
presenting it to the Sisters:
“This is but an earthly treasure done by the stitcher in a sense of
gratitude for the many times more numerous hours, days and years of the
performance of God’s work and love by the Marian Sisters.”
We, needless to say, are forever indebted to this man for a work
of such selfless love. The delightful image hangs in our dining room,
where all the Sisters gaze upon it in wonder several times a day, and
humbly invoke the protection of St. Michael over all our kind benefactors.
